Yeah, being able to practice at all a few days after suffering a fracture in his back would be considered well ahead of schedule. That’s what Carr apparently told Donald Penn today when he threw some passes in practice today.
Penn says Derek Carr (back) told him today that he is “very ahead of schedule.”

The Raiders have already called upon EJ Manuel to start, so Carr won’t be playing this week, but his practice today would suggest his projected 2-6 week down time will lean more to the 2 week end of things.
Other good news was the return of Mario Edwards Jr who didn’t practice Wednesday with a back issue and was a full participant Thursday. Gareon Conley returned limited with his shin injury.
Top receivers Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree were upgraded to full after practicing limited on Wednesday. Crabtree missed last week with a chest injury.
Still not practicing was starting right guard Gabe Jackson who has a foot injury.
