Wednesday Marshawn Lynch re-joined his team in Sarasota Florida following his one-game suspension that caused him to miss the team’s game in Buffalo.

“He’s a physical guy,” said head coach Jack Del Rio. “He brings passion for the game. Those are things that we welcome back.”

While he was away, the team called up 7th round rookie running back Elijah Hood as depth at the running back position. Hood was active for the game, but didn’t see any time on offense. He was relegated to 8 special teams snaps.

Splitting the carries for the Raiders was the combo of DeAndre Washington, Jalen Richard, and Jamize Olawale. Richard and Washington are both smaller, shifty backs. And both had crucial fumbles in the game. Olawale handled a couple short yardage runs as the fullbacks, but the team definitely missed Marshawn’s physical presence.

“He’s a physical player, we all know that,” said Derek Carr. . . “When you get a guy like Marshawn who does that really well, I think we’re more apt to let him do those kinds of things. Whatever it is, whatever we have to do as a team, I think we’re all in. I think our guys are understanding that there’s no room for mistakes now. We have to go out and we have to perform. We have to go and do it in a physical manner.”

With Lynch back on the active roster as of Monday, Hood was waived. Today he too took the field with the team having been re-signed to the practice squad.
