Raiders week 11 power rankings round-up: Luck be a Raider in Week 10

NFL: Oakland Raiders at Miami Dolphins Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

The Oakland Raiders went into the bye needing some teams to lose to keep their playoff hopes alive. Well the football Gods have answered and the Raiders came out of the bye better off even without playing a game. With every AFC West and wild card team in front of them losing in week 10 the Raiders came up aces during the bye.

They sit 2 games back at 4-5 in the West and only 1 game out of a wildcard spot in the AFC. Let’s take a look at how it impacted their rankings.

Projected wins: 7.0. The Raiders will have to protect the ball and/or force turnovers in order to reach their projected win total. They're 1-5 when losing the turnover battle this season and 3-0 when breaking even or winning it.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the Raiders’ new stadium in Las Vegas took place Monday. Meanwhile, trying to salvage this season in Oakland remains very much a work in progress.

The Oakland Raiders have been playing better football, but there's no denying the offense is going to have to carry this team.

If the Raiders want to make a charge at the playoffs, they need to get the run game going. That's the one element that's missing from the team that we saw last season.

The offense isn't creative enough under coordinator Todd Downing to win games with 300- and 400-yard games from Derek Carr. If Oakland cannot find some balance, the offense won't be able to carry the team.

The Raiders are dangerous and desperate. However, they also have the Patriots lurking in Week 11 and cannot afford many more losses.

I have no idea what to expect out this team in the second half. A collapse? Big run to contention? Anything is possible for one of the NFL's biggest underachievers.

How much do the Packers regret letting Jared Cook go? They signed Martellus Bennett, and we all know how that turned out. Cook, meanwhile, has 39 catches for 499 yards and has been a great addition to the Raiders offense. He has mostly been a disappointment through his career but that’s not the case this season.

Derek Carr and the offense must find a way to be more consistent and put points on the board. Khalil Mack and the defense must start pressuring the QB and taking the ball away. With CB Gareon Conley going on IR the CB group took a major hit losing easily their best corner.

HC Jack Del Rio, DC Ken Norton Jr., and OC Todd Downing must do better schematically in the 2nd half of the season if they want to make the playoffs. Their first test will be against a red hot Patriots team in Mexico City. The Raiders have had 2 weeks to prepare for this game they can’t come out and lay an egg.
