The hated Broncos are in town in the midst of a 6-game losing streak. They haven’t won since facing the Raiders in week four, at which point they were sitting at 3-1 on the season. Now they sit at 3-7, firmly at the bottom of the AFC West.
All that would change should they pull out a win in Oakland. Their losing streak would come to an end and it would be the Raiders who dropped to the bottom of the division, having been swept by the Broncos.
That would be a sad state of affairs for the Raiders. It would, for all intents and purposes, end any hopes the Raiders have of still mounting a playoff run and the Broncos could revel in being the team that played spoiler. It would be especially damning considering the Broncos are starting Paxton Lynch for the game as their third QB this season.
Lynch getting the start is not the biggest move made by either of these teams this week. Both teams fired coordinators, setting the table for the Raiders to face Bill Musgrave who was their offensive coordinator last season, helping guide them to a 12-4 record and their first playoff berth in 14 years. It would be some kind of sick poetic justice if he were the one to end the Raiders hopes of a return trip.
