Over the past six weeks the AFC West has been turned upside down. The Chiefs started out the season 5-0 with wins over the Patriots and Eagles. Since they they have lost five of six and now sit just a game over .500 at 6-5.
That one win the Chiefs had over the past six weeks came over the Broncos who are currently on a 6-game losing streak and sit squarely at the bottom of the division at 3-7.
On Thanksgiving day the Chargers beat the Cowboys to jump them to second the the division with the Chiefs loss bringing them to within a game of the division lead. We’re talking about a Chargers team that began the season 0-4. They have gone 5-2 since then and now sit at 5-6.
That is where the Raiders are hoping to be after today. Should they win, they too would be within a game of the AFC West lead, hand the Broncos their 7th straight loss, essentially ending their season. Should the Raiders lose and break the Broncos losing streak, it would drop them to a tie at the bottom of the division.
The door is wide open for the Raiders and they need to charge through it. The division is up for grabs. They just need to put some wins together and take advantage now that the Chiefs previously commanding lead is now a thing of the past.
