This week Raiders top receiver Amari Cooper has been in the concussion protocol after being knocked unconscious last Sunday against the Denver Broncos. Thursday becomes important in the protocol because there are several stages he must go through in order to play. He was absent from practice which could mean he has yet to pass stage one.

Cooper is also nursing a sprained ankle, which complicates things further. But had he passed stage one of the concussion protocol, and his providing his ankle was ok, he would take the practice field if only for the stretching period. Therefore his absence raising serious concerns he will be cleared to play Sunday against the Giants.

If he can’t go, the Raiders will be without both of their top receivers due to Michael Crabtree’s suspension. Not ideal to say the least.

Returning to practice was Cory James who missed Wednesday with a knee issue.

Still missing from practice for the Giants are linebacker Jonathan Casillas (neck/wrist) and defensive tackle Damon Harrison (elbow). Returning to practice was offensive lineman Justin Pugh (back).
