What was feared is now official — Amari Cooper will not play this week against the Giants. His loss leaves the Raiders without both starting wide receivers as the Giants come to town Sunday.

Coop suffered a serious concussion in the second quarter of last week’s game against the Broncos while diving for a Derek Carr pass over the middle. He missed practice the entire week, meaning he most likely hadn’t passed even stage one of the concussion protocol.

This news comes of the heels of learning Michael Crabtree would be suspended for this week’s game for his part in the fight with Aqib Talib on the second series of the Broncos game.

Without Coop and Crab, the Raiders will rely on the trio of Seth Roberts, Cordarrelle Patterson, and Johnny Holton just as they did last week for most of the game. They also called up undrafted rookie receiver Isaac Whitney from the practice squad for depth purposes.

Potentially returning to the lineup will be cornerback David Amerson who practiced for the first time this week since suffering a foot injury four weeks ago.

Several other Raiders players are questionable, including Cory James, Cordarrelle Patterson, and Gabe Jackson, though all are expected to play.

Giants linebacker Jonathan Casillas is OUT while defensive tackle Damon Harrison is questionable despite missing all week with an elbow injury and Justin Pugh is doubtful with a back injury.
