Clive Walford latest to head to Injured reserve, Raiders call up Pharaoh Brown from practice squad

With just two games left in the season, even somewhat minor injuries can have a player head for injured reserve. Such could be the case for Clive Walford, who was dealing with a concussion that figured to have him out for this week’s game against the Eagles.

The Raiders opted to end his season, sending him to injured reserve and calling up undrafted rookie Pharaoh Brown from the practice squad.

It’s a shame, really, for Walford who had his best game as a Raider two weeks ago, catching 4 passes on 4 targets for 57 yards. The third year tight end hadn’t really gotten going over his first two seasons and this season didn’t play much behind free agent acquisition, Jared Cook.

Brown was a promising tight end at Oregon before a serious leg injury threatened his playing career entirely. He missed the entire 2015 season of college ball and it’s been a long road back. Though he seemed to drop a lot of passes in the offseason and training camp for the Raiders, he showed enough potential to keep him around on the practice squad. He may have some opportunities in the final two games to earn a longer look in the offseason.

Walford is the third player this week to head to injured reserve, joining Donald Penn and Jon Feliciano.
