The last injury report of the 2017 season and the Raiders are trying to get David Amerson on the field just once before it’s all said and done.

“He’s been close. Gotten to where we thought he could and didn’t quite make it,” Jack Del Rio said Wednesday. “Hopefully he’ll be back.”

I suppose it’s to try and save some face to justify not placing Amerson on injured reserve, but that ship has sailed. He has already missed the equivalent of a stint on partial season injured reserve, and it wouldn’t make much difference if he saw the field in the finale. Not with the standout play from TJ Carrie and Sean Smith of late. Though John Pagano thinks it’s a big deal.

“It’s huge,” said Pagano Thursday. “He’s a cover corner that can run, that can make plays. You can see those certain things. it’ll be big for us to be able to get him out there, add to the mix. If he’s not available, it’s what we’ve been doing. Next guy up and keep working that process.”

Vadal Alexander is not expected to play after missing all week with a concussion. That combined with David Sharpe’s sudden illness, put the tackle position in serious trouble for the finale. THAT should make Derek Carr feel confident eh?

Other than that, Trevyon Hester is out with an ankle injury. For the Chargers, safety Adrian Phillips is out with an ankle injury.
