NFL: Kansas City Chiefs at New York Jets Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

Sunday in the Meadowlands started out looking like the Chiefs would get back on track. They took a 14-0 lead in the first quarter, but that lead disappeared quickly, with the Jets tying the game at 14-14 and it was a new game before the end of the first quarter.

Alex Smith was on fire most of the game, completing 19 passes for 366 yards and 4 touchdowns. The final touchdown pass was a 40-yard catch and run by Tyreek Hill to give the Chiefs a 31-30 lead midway through the 4th quarter.

But the Chiefs would be outgunned by Josh McCown and the Jets who went on a 14-play, 75-yard touchdown drive late to take a 38-31 lead.

With just over two minutes remaining, the Chiefs would drive to the Jets 19-yard-line before getting stopped and turning the ball over on downs.

The Chiefs have now lost 6 of their last seven games to fall to 6-6 on the season after starting the season 5-0.

Should the Raiders take out the Giants in Oakland today, they would be improve to 6-6, tied atop the division and having already beaten the Chiefs this season. The Chargers face the Browns today. They too have the opportunity to improve to 6-6, making a three-way tie. The Raiders lost to them this season and face them again in the season finale.
