Raiders waive DT Darius Latham as Michael Crabtree reinstated from suspension

His one-game suspension up, Michael Crabtree has been officially reinstated to the roster by the Raiders. To make room for his return, the Raiders have waived defensive tackle Darius Latham.

It’s interesting because it was Latham had been reinstated himself on November 13 from his 4-game suspension for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. Latham was reinstated when the team put Gareon Conley on injured reserve, despite the team’s thin cornerback unit due to the injury to David Amerson.

Latham was inactive all three games since he was activated. The former undrafted free agent out of Indiana signee has seen action in just one game this season, after appearing in 14 games as a rookie in 2016, showing some promise as an interior defensive lineman. He will be eligible to sign to the practice squad should he clear waivers.

When Crabtree was initially suspended, it was undrafted rookie receiver Isaac Whitney who was called up from the practice squad to fill his roster spot. He remains on the roster, I would suspect at least until the team gets Amari Cooper back from his concussion/sprained ankle.
