NFL week 14 odds, betting lines: Despite recent winning ways, Raiders still underdogs to struggling Chiefs

NFL: Oakland Raiders at Kansas City Chiefs Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

Both the Raiders and Chiefs are 6-6 on the season with the Raiders headed to Kansas City in a crucial AFC West match-up. And the oddsmakers at are giving the Chiefs a 4-point edge over the Raiders courtesy of Odds Shark.

There are two ways to look at this.

Recent history favors the Raiders. I mean the past six games of history. The Raiders are 4-2 in their last six games, including a 31-30 win over the Chiefs in Oakland. The Chiefs are 1-5 in that same span and 1-6 over the past seven games including losers of 4-straight. Two of those losses came at Arrowhead to the Steelers and Bills.

They also suspended top cornerback Marcus Peters for this week’s game while the Raiders will get back Michael Crabtree -- who caught the game-winning TD pass in their last meeting — and perhaps Amari Cooper — who had a career game that week.

There are factors that favor the Chiefs though. The game is at Arrowhead which is one of the NFL’s most hostile environments. Derek Carr has never won in Kansas City in three tries. Alex Smith has been having a rough time through most of their six losses the past seven weeks, before throwing for 366 yards and 4 touchdowns with no interceptions against the Jets last week. It was the Chiefs defense that blew that game.
