Well, this could be something. Friday night, Raiders former second round pick Jihad Ward tweeted out some rather cryptic words that could suggest something is going on with his status with the Raiders.
Ward tweeted out “Thank y’all for the opportunity” addressed to no one in particular. Or was it?
Thank y’all for the opportunity— HADDY (@JIHADWARD17) December 9, 2017
One could speculate, if one wanted to, that this is a message for the Raiders who gave him his NFL opportunity by making him their selection in the second round last year.
After a lackluster rookie season, the team had hopes Ward could step up and break out in his second season. That hasn’t happened. He’s only appeared in three games this season, and has been a healthy scratch most of the season.
Ward showed up on the injury report Thursday after practicing full Wednesday and is listed as doubtful for the game. This could suggest his injury is serious enough the team is sending him to injured reserve. And perhaps Ward has been given some indication that would be the end of his time with the Raiders.
If this tweet is as is would seem, we should soon hear something official from the team.
