Three years ago as a junior in high school, I contacted Levi Damien as I was interested if he was looking to add writers to Silver and Black Pride. Realistically, I thought there was no way in hell he would ever return my email considering I was just 16 at the time. Sure enough, he replied and explained that if I wrote some quality fanposts, he would bump them to the front page of the website and that if I could prove I had the football knowledge and writing skills necessary to contribute, he would bring me on as a staff writer.
Just over three years and 245 articles later, I have chosen to step down from Silver and Black Pride as I simply do not have the same availability I used to. I have an incredible amount of respect for Levi both as a writer and as a friend. He took a leap of faith bringing me on, but also mentored and gave me advice that was useful not just in sports, but in life.
I also want to thank the rest of the S&BP staff as they put in a tremendous amount of their time to contribute to this site. Each one of them brings a unique element to the staff and each one is very talented. It was an honor working with you guys the past three years.
Lastly, I want to thank the S&BP community. What makes Silver and Black Pride distinctive from any other Raiders website is the fan involvement that takes place here. I will never forget looking at an article only to see two days after publishing it, the article already had 60,000 views and over 700 comments and it always left me in shock. The readers here love debating with each other, and love praising and criticizing the writers as well. It makes for a truly special experience that can only be found here.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you to Levi and the rest of the S&BP staff that helped me grow as a writer and person, and thank you to the fans that gave me your time in reading my articles, it truly means the world.
