Raiders free agency day 2 tracker: Still re-sign candidates, many remain on wish list

New, comments

Day one is in the books. There were some crazy numbers in the contracts of players signed around the league. Unlike the past couple years, the Raiders weren’t a major topic and whether they got in on any big time signings remains to be seen.

Though their own free agents were getting deals elsewhere; four of them to be exact — Malcolm Smith, Daren Bates, Stacy McGee, and Brynden Trawick. You can look back at day one action here.

We aren’t dwelling on the ones that got away today. It’s onwards and upwards as I have no doubt the Raiders have been working to sign at least a couple free agent starters, but will continue to do so today.

It is ‘Reggie Friday’ after all. For those unfamiliar with the term; it came about because Reggie McKenzie tends to do a lot of official business on Fridays. Many times the work was done in the days prior, but the official announcements often seem to come out on Friday. Hopefully that will once again hold true because I think there are quite a few antsy Raiders fans right about now wondering what the heck is going on.

It’s important to note that things aren’t just quiet with the Raiders. Sure there are some teams like the Browns, 49ers, and Jaguars who are going crazy in the market, but that’s not really that common.

Not coincidentally those teams are the worst in the NFL. The Raiders were in that boat for a while, but not anymore. They are behaving like a team with specific needs to address, not just filling out a roster with whomever will sign on the dotted line.

With that in mind, here is the list of Raiders free agents and Raiders wish list players who we have yet to hear of officially signing on anyone’s dotted line.

These lists will be updated throughout the day as players are signed, whether by the Raiders or another team.
