Two days of the 2017 free agency period are in the books. And thus far it’s been...well, it hasn’t been much of anything. Nearing the end of day two with no movement from Oakland, a report snuck in late of the Raiders signing part time tackle Marshall Newhouse to a 2-year deal.
Outside of throwing that bone, the cupboard has been bare. In fact, it’s been stripped, without no Raiders’ unrestricted free agents yet to re-sign with the team and 7 of 13 signing deals elsewhere. Here are the Raiders players who have found new homes:
Stacy McGee — Signs 5-year, $25 million deal with Washington
Brynden Trawick — Signs 2-year deal worth max $6.85 million with Titans
Raiders free agents still unsigned are Perry Riley Jr, Jon Condo, Andre Holmes, Mychal Rivera, and Matt McGloin, and Latavius Murray
Holmes set to visit the Lions per report
Outside of the Newhouse deal, the only other reported interest is in WR/KR Cordarrelle Patterson who visits the team Monday (originally Sunday) after a visit to Chicago.
The lack of movement has put many fans in to a panic. And with as many needs as the Raiders have, their concern is understandable.
All is not lost, though. Far from it. It may be day three, but there is still a lot of talent on the market that could make this free agency period a success.
