Updated: Raiders close to deal with Marshawn Lynch

New, comments

Just one more step and Beast Mode is back!

It’s the happiest of Reggie Fridays as Marshawn Lynch has agreed to terms with the Raiders according to Mike Silver.

No details yet on the structure of the deal as of yet but as of Thursday it was expected to be a short deal (probably one year), heavily laced with incentives.

Lynch hinted at a deal having been reached when he tweeted this out Thursday night:

To which former teammate Matt Hasselbeck responded with “Welcome back kid!”

As of now, this deal cannot be official until the Seahawks either release Lynch or trade his rights to the Raiders, which they reportedly working on.

Any trade is expected to go smoothly due to the strong relationship between Raiders GM Reggie McKenzie and Seahawks GM John Schneider.

No telling yet what the compensation will be, but it isn’t expected to be much more than perhaps a 7th round pick in this year’s draft or a low conditional pick in 2018.

Update: Several reports are now coming out, which sound as if they are coming from Lynch’s agent, saying a deal has not yet been agreed to between the Raiders and Lynch. Though there is optimism a deal will be reached soon. So, it appears the gun was jumped a little bit. We will update the story as it develops.
