Raiders begin offseason program today, several players to speak

New, comments

Back at it today for the Raiders as their 2017 offseason workouts begin. It’s the first prep for the 2017 season. For many Raiders players it will be their first time at the facility since mid-January when the 2016 season ended after the team’s Wild Card playoff loss in Houston. It’s at very least the first time any Raiders players have worked out at the facility since then.

It’s also the first time some of the new Raiders will meet many of their new teammates.

New Raiders players include wide receiver/kick returner Cordarrelle Patterson, tight end Jared Cook, offensive tackle Marshall Newhouse, quarterback EJ Manuel, and linebacker Jelani Jenkins.

This is phase one which consists of the first two weeks of the program with activities limited to strength and conditioning and physical rehabilitation only. There is no open practice. That won’t occur until May, following the draft.

Some other rules about these workouts:

They are voluntary
Four hours a day
Only strength and conditioning coaches allowed on the field with players

Available to speak to the media today beginning at around 12:30 pm will be Derek Carr, Khalil Mack, and Rodney Hudson.
