Raiders officially acquire Marshawn Lynch via trade with Seahawks

New, comments

It’s now official — Marshawn Lynch is an Oakland Raider. The club announced the move Wednesday, acquiring Lynch in trade with the Seattle Seahawks. The trade includes a swap of 2018 picks with the Raiders’ 5th round pick going to Seattle and the Seahawks’ 6th round pick to Oakland.

Lynch is coming out of retirement, after a year out of football. He had spent the first 9 years of his career with the Seahawks and Bills, where he was named to 5 Pro Bowls and was a 2-time All Pro.

He is a proud Oakland native, who attended Oakland Tech High School and neighboring Cal Berkeley, who was only willing to come out of retirement to play for his hometown Raiders. He signs with the Raiders on a reported 2-year deal with $3 million guaranteed in 2017 and a max of $8.5 million over two seasons.

His career totals include 127 games played with 114 starts, rushing for 9,112 yards on 2,144 carries (4.3 avg.) with 74 touchdowns, and 252 receptions for 1,979 yards with nine touchdowns.

In 11 career postseason games, Lynch recorded 937 rushing yards on 193 attempts with nine touchdowns. Lynch’s 51 rushing touchdowns since 2011 still rank first across the NFL despite not playing in 2016.

After his signing, the Raiders posted this video in which Lynch looks beside himself with excitement.
