San Francisco 49ers cornerback Tramaine Brock was arrested Thursday evening. Santa Clara police were called to Brock's home where they found a woman he is dating with visible injuries. Brock was not present when the police arrived and later turned himself in where he was charged with felony Domestic Violence.
Friday, not long after the reports went public, the 49ers announced they had released Brock. It became the first decisive action of new 49ers GM John Lynch.
It also becomes the 15th arrest for the 49ers organization since 2012, three more than any other NFL team during that time according to USA Today reports.
Classically, it's the team on the other side of the Bay that has the bad reputation for player arrests. But that hasn't been the case for a while. The 49ers have three times as many arrests than the their cross-bay rival Raiders in the Reggie McKenzie era.
The five arrests the Raiders have had since 2012 is 7th fewest in the league. The fewest being 2 arrests. The Chargers and Texans are tied with that total.
Also for the Raiders, they are one of just two NFL teams which hasn't had a player arrested in three years. Aldon Smith's run-in with the police recently wasn't an arrest. He was just held overnight after being presumably quite intoxicated while a passenger in a car that ran into a police cruiser.
Washington is the only other team without an arrest since 2014.
