Yeah, yeah, this is a football blog. But here’s the thing; First of all the NBA Finals are big. Many of you are going to be watching just for that reason. Second of all, one of the teams is from Oakland. So are the Raiders. So even more reason many of you will be watching. Third, for a lot of you want to talk about it and you want to do so with likeminded fans. In this case, other Raiders fans.
Who: Cleveland Cavaliers vs Golden State Warriors
What: NBA Finals Game one
When: 6:00pm tonight (9pm ET)
Where: Oracle Arena, Oakland CA
TV: ABC
This is the third straight NBA Finals between the Dubs and Cavs. The first meeting the Warriors won, last year the Cavs took it, so this year each team is going for best two out of three.
The Warriors looked to have their second straight NBA championship last year with a 3-1 lead heading into game five. But due to a flagrant foul from Draymond Green, he was suspended for the game, allowing the Cavs to get back in it. They would win three straight games to upset the Warriors for the title — the first for the Cavs and the first for the city of Cleveland in 52 years.
The Warriors had reached the finals after coming back from their own 3-1 deficit to the Thunder. In the offseason they signed Kevin Durant away from Oklahoma City, both strengthening their team and weakening the Thunder.
The Warriors have a powerful squad led by Stephen Curry. For the Cavs it’s all about Lebron James.
It should be another exciting series.
