The Raiders’ veterans report to training camp tomorrow, and it looks like running back Taiwan Jones will not be among them. The 7th year running back and special teams ace is being released according to a source close to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Jones was a former 4th round pick in 2011 -- the last full draft with Al Davis who was clearly impressed by Jones’s 4.33 speed.
He was brought to the Raiders as a running back, but after ball security concerns had him carry the ball just 27 times in his first three seasons, the team even tried him at cornerback. Eventually he was seen as a special teamer and gimmick running back.
While Jones never really caught on as a running back or cornerback, his outstanding special teams gunner duties earned him a 3-year contract extension in 2014. He was due $1.15 million this season with no dead money left behind with his release.
