Raiders open training camp today and it’s Alumni day

New, comments

“Once a Raider, Always a Raider” shows up on day one of training camp.

It’s finally here. The first day of training camp. The Raiders team takes the field today for their first practice in preparation for the 2017 season. Well, except for Donald Penn who is holding out due to his discontent with his contract.

Camp will go through August 17, with their first preseason game taking place in the meantime on the 12th at Arizona. Camp will begin with two days without pads before their official first day in pads on July 31.

The Raiders open camp today with Alumni day in which they invite a lot of former Raiders players to attend camp and then get together to reminisce about their old days in the Silver & Black.

Just pulling up, I saw Sam Williams and Kirk Morrison walking up. Morrison in particular, tweeted out that he’s ready for the day with the Raiders Training Camp 2017 T-shirt and gear.

If it’s anything like last year, there will be no shortage of Raiders legends in the house. Last year the host of Raiders greats included Cliff Branch, Fred Biletnikoff, Cotton Davidson, and Jeff Hostetler among many others. I expect it to be much the same today.

The grind starts at 11am.
