Mario Edwards Jr, Bruce Irvin start Raiders camp on NFI list, three others on PUP

New, comments

Some notable players were missing from the first day of Raiders training camp.

We knew Donald Penn was not going to be attending the first day of Raiders camp. He is not happy with his contract and is holding out. The team placed him on the Reserve/Did not report list. But there were a few others who were also not in attendance who were not expected.

Most notably Mario Edwards Jr and Bruce Irvin who the team placed on the Non-football injury (NFI) list to begin camp. Both players had participated full in the Raiders offseason program.

Neither injury is expected to be serious, but it has to be frustrating that once again Mario Edwards is not able to practice with his teammates. He had missed more than a calendar year between his rookie season in which he suffered a neck injury and last season when he missed all but the final couple games with a hip injury.

Others already announced as on the NFI list were linebacker Ben Heeney and tight end Cooper Helfet.

Landing on the Physically Unable to Perform list are Gareon Conley, Jon Feliciano, and Jihad Ward.

Felciano had missed the team’s offseason program with an undisclosed injury. Jihad Ward suffered a foot injury in minicamp and was not expected to be ready to start camp. Conley missed the pre-camp warmup and just signed his rookie deal on the eve of camp.
