Who will, won’t play and how much for Raiders in preseason opener vs Cardinals

New, comments

If this were the regular season, you could figure most of the Raiders starters would be taking the field for the duration of the game. But this is the preseason. The start of the preseason, in fact, so some players are recovering from injuries the team would prefer not to aggravate.

Even those starters who are healthy may not see a lot of action. Let’s start with those who likely won’t play and go from there. Remember, many of these are estimations on my part based on what I have seen in training camp and heard from coaches.

Won’t play (updated official):

Injuries: Amari Cooper (knee), Obi Melifonwu, Keith McGill (broken foot), Gareon Conley (who is now saying he does NOT have shin splints), Jihad Ward, Ben Heeney, Cooper Helfet, David Sharpe, and Fadol Brown.

Reserve/Did not report: Donald Penn (contract holdout).
