Jack Del Rio just below Bill Belichick for best Coach of the Year odds

New, comments

The NFL coach of the year odds are out and Raiders head coach Jack Del Rio is just off the best odds in the league, behind only Bill Belichick.

Belichick sits at 7/1 odds with Del Rio just behind him with 9/1 odds.

Most predictions this offseason have had the Raiders and Patriots as the top two contenders out of the AFC, and perhaps the top two teams in the NFL entirely.

The Patriots took advantage of the Falcons’ play calling stupidity up 28-3 in the Super Bowl to come back to win it. The OC who made those terrible calls ie NOT running the ball to hold the lead was Kyle Shanahan who is the new head coach in San Francisco. He had some long odds at 33/1.

The Raiders were expected to be the two seed until Derek Carr was lost to injury in week 16. Without him they lost the season finale in Denver, dropping them to the five seed, and sending them to Houston with a rookie QB starting his first ever NFL game.

With a healthy Derek Carr, the Raiders are expected to make a strong run.
