Jihad Ward passes physical, comes off Raiders PUP list

New, comments

Second year defensive lineman Jihad Ward will resume practices this week for the Raiders. He had injured his foot in the team’s OTA’s which required surgery and he spent the entirety of training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list.

The team has had high hopes for Ward after the 2016 2nd round pick’s lackluster rookie season. Ward was a liability in the middle of the line as part of the Raiders league worst interior pass rush.

Also passing his physical and activated from the Non-Football Injury (NFI) list was tight end Cooper Helfet.

There are two preseason games remaining for the Raiders. Training camp is done, which means the team will return to their Alameda facility for practices from here on out. Those practices start Tuesday and with Ward and Helfet taking the field, both could be available next Saturday when the Raiders head to Dallas for their third preseason game.
