No practice today for the Raiders as they prepare for their final preseason game Thursday night against the Seahawks. We are at 11 days until the season opener. For a good long time there has been one man representing that number in Silver & Black.

Who wore it best IS wearing it now: K Sebastian Janikowski

The longest tenured Raider and all-time leading scorer. The Raiders shocked the world when they selected the Polish Cannon out of Florida State in the first round (17 overall) of the 2000 draft. Whether it was a great decision to take a kicker in the first round is debatable, but there were only two other Pro Bowlers selected in the first round after him, and he was one of just 9 Pro Bowlers selected from that spot until the end of the fourth round.

Entering his 18th NFL season, 'Seabass' has made 414 of 515 field goal attempts (80.4%) and 557 of 563 extra point attempts for a total of 1,799 points. Among those field goals was a 63-yarder in 2011 which at the time tied for the longest in NFL history.

Janikowski’s most impressive stat is he holds the NFL all time record for most field goals over 50 yards (55). The previous mark was 52, held by Jason Hanson. It took Hanson 20 years to reach that number. Janikowski did it in his 16th season. Janikowski is also tied for the most field goals of 50 yards or more in a single game (3).

He is currently the NFL 10th all time scorer. He is still some 171 points from the next leading scorer (John Kasay), which means he is unlikely to move up in the rankings this season.
