Can you believe it, we’re just ONE WEEK from the Raiders first preseason game. That’s the first look the fans will get of the 2017 Raiders. But as much as we want to see them play some football, we’ll wait a bit longer for the games that matter. To be exact, that’s 36 days away. So, let’s pass the time by talking about the guy wearing number 36 right now.
CB Chris Humes
Humes is an undrafted rookie out of Arkansas State where he started 39 games over four years with 3 interceptions, 14 passes defended, and 180 tackles. As a senior, named Honorable Mention All-Sun Belt Conference.
We’re a week into camp and he has not stood out which is not a good sign for an undrafted guy. There are a couple weeks left of camp and four preseason games to see if he can make an impression.
Who wore it best: CB Terry McDaniel (1988-97)
Selected by the Raiders at ninth overall in the 1988 draft, just three picks after they had selected Hall of Famer “Mr Raider”, Timmy Brown. McDaniel had a fine career in his own rite. He played ten seasons with the Raiders, nine of which he was a full time starting corner. He made five straight Pro Bowls from 1992 to 1996, averaging over 5 interceptions per season during those years. He finished with 34 interceptions as a Raider which ranks third in team history. McDaniel took over as the starter in 1989 for Hall of Famer Mike Haynes, and in 1998 passed the torch to future Hall of Famer, Charles Woodson. Quite a stretch of fine cornerback play for the Raiders.
