Today marks five weeks until the Raiders open the 2017 season or 35 days. That’s a number that’s typically worn by a running back or defensive back. But not these days.
LB Nicholas Morrow
One look at this 6-0, 216-pounder and you might think he’s a safety. The undrafted rookie out of Greenville has quick feet and is on the smaller side for linebackers. He has tweener special teams maven written all over him. But without an ideal position fit, he will have to make a strong impression on special teams to have any chance at making the roster.
Who wore it best: RB Hewritt Dixon (1966-70)
Dixon joined the Raiders in 1966 after three years in Denver. Upon joining the Raiders, he would make three-straight AFL All-Star teams, the third of which he was named All Pro. In his second season with the team, the Raiders made the Super Bowl while sharing carries with Clem Daniels. Dixon came up big in the playoffs, rushing 21 times for 144 yards and a touchdown in the Raiders' conference championship win over the Houston Oilers. He would then lead the Raiders in rushing in 1968 and 1970, making his fourth AFL All-Star team in 1970.
