Another Raiders camp standout got bad news today. Undrafted cornerback Breon Borders was waived by the team according to a source. He is likely to be brought back to the practice squad should he clear waivers.
The former Duke Blue Devil made a strong impression throughout the offseason and training camp. Four days in to camp, the team demoted Sean Smith to second team and it was Borders who began seeing first team reps as the slot corner in the nickel.
His strong camp play didn’t show up throughout the preseason games, though he did finish strong, intercepting a pass in the preseason finale in Oakland against the Seahawks.
Other corners to be waived so far include Kenneth Durden and Chris Humes. This leaves the team with six corners yet to be reported as released. You can see all the players who have been waived thus far in our roster cuts tracker.
