Saturday the Raiders updated their injury report, now listing Michael Crabtree as doubtful. He had been questionable with a chest injury following a week of practices in which he was limited on Wednesday and Thursday and then missed practice on Friday.
This is a significant loss for the Raiders as Crabtree is the team’s leading receiver and Derek Carr’s most reliable target.
Crabtree suffered the chest injury last Sunday night in Washington when Derek Carr threw a pass too high on a deep route. Crabtree leapt to get the ball and was high squarely in the chest by oncoming safety Montae Nicholson. Crabtree left the game and didn’t return.
He passed initial X-rays and was cleared to fly back with the team that night. Jack Del Rio said this week that Crabtree will “bounce back” but wouldn’t put a timetable on it.
Should Crabtree be unable to go, Seth Roberts could start in his place. Other receivers on the roster who could see increased time include Cordarrelle Patterson and Johnny Holton.
