You smell that? Mack does. It’s the smell of blood in the water. The Chargers have claimed offensive tackle Michael Schofield off waivers from the Broncos, keeping him in the AFC West.
Why is that important?
Schofield is the guy who was lining up at right tackle for the Broncos in 2015 and was absolutely destroyed by Khalil Mack to the tune of 5 sacks IN ONE HALF.
Our own Goro Burroughs remembers.
Chargers claimed OL Michael Schofield.

To be fair, one of those sacks came around the left tackle.
For the Chargers’ part, they have said they will be playing Schofield at guard, which is where the Broncos put him last season probably in large part due to getting worked over by Mack.
That’s probably a good idea. Lest they feel like ending Philip Rivers’s career early.
Though that’s not great news for Mack and the other pass rushers in the division, the Chargers are probably a couple injuries away from Schofield starting on the outside.
