I’m not going to pretend to know what the Raiders thinking is here, but apparently they worked out three kickers this weekend. This according to ESPN’s Field Yates.

As you know, the Raiders have Sebastian Janikowski as their kicker just as they have the past 17 years. And he is entering the final year of his contract in Oakland.

Nugent is 35 years old and just came off a 7-year stint with the Cincinnati Bengals with a career 80.8 field goal percentage. He didn’t make a field goal outside 50 yards last season in three attempts and is 2 of 9 outside 50 yards the past three seasons.

Lambo is played for the Chargers for two seasons. He too didn’t make a field goal outside 50 yards last season and this offseason was replaced by this guy:

Koehn is a 25-year-old kicker who spent camp with the Vikings.

It’s hard to imagine any of these guys would be looked at as a replacement for Janikowski. Unless of course Janikowski has an injury of some kind that we don’t know about.

All three of these kickers are right footed. Since Janikowski — a left footed kicker — has been a Raider, the team has only invited left footed kickers into camp including Giorgio Tavecchio who has spent the past three training camps with the Raiders.

Update: The Raiders have asked Janikowski to rework his contract, causing impasse
