Practices begin today as the Raiders prepare for their season opener. As is standard, they will have three practices, then a travel day to Tennessee. Then they will kick off the season against the Titans. This man has been itching to get back and take another run at the playoffs.

Who wore it best is wearing it now: QB Derek Carr (2014-present)

Previous to Carr donning the number four, there was only one player in Raiders history to wear number 4 for more than one season. That was Jerry DePoyster who was the team's punter for two seasons from 1971-72.

Carr has been was on track for the best to wear it since his rookie season when he started all 16 games throwing for 3270 yards with 21 touchdowns to 12 interceptions. His star has risen each season since, leading to a blockbuster extension making him (at the time) the highest paid player in league history.

He led the Raiders to a 12-3 record and their first playoff berth in 14 years while orchestrating 7 4th quarter comebacks and 5 game-winning touchdown passes. But he wasn’t able to be part of their playoff team as he broke his fibula in week 16.

This season he returns to take another run at the division and the playoffs. That journey begins in four days from today.
