Several Jack Del Rio assistants expected to return this season for Raiders under Jon Gruden

Despite Jack Del Rio being fired just minutes after the Raiders’ season-ending loss in Los Angeles, they didn’t fire his coaching staff. His assistants kept their jobs and were told they may seek employment elsewhere if they chose to do so.

Thus far, only one member of the previous staff has found work elsewhere. Linebackers coach Sal Sunseri was hired on at the University of Florida.

All others were still available to stay and that decision left it open for Jon Gruden to retain some of them, should HE choose to do so. It would appear he is looking to keep quite a few on staff, according to Vic Tafur of the Athletic. Those returning coaches are expected to include:

Tight ends coach Bobby Johnson

Safeties coach Brent Vieselmeyer

Outside Linebackers coach Travis Smith

Assistant wide receivers coach Nick Holz

Assistant Offensive Line Coach Tim Holt

Gruden has officially only hired all new coordinators. Keeping these coaches makes his position coach search that much easier.
