When asked about their coaches, current and former, most NFL players will try to find nice things to say about them. But it isn’t all the often you see a player unprompted go out of his way to say the kind of things Carlos Dunlap said today about his now former Defensive Coordinator Paul Guenther.

Dunlap, a Pro Bowler in 2015 and 2016 took to Instagram where he spoke very highly of Guenther.

“There Are Many Ways To Get Label As ‘Players Coach’,” said Dunlap.

“Putting ya players in best position to succeed ✔️, making sure ya players understand what and why there assignment is on that play ✔️, and being straight shooter (tell it how it is) ✔️.

“The list could go on and on but I think points proven. When you accomplish that label people want to be apart of that, it is what it is. Appreciate ya Pauly G good luck to ya and your New Chapter!”

Guenther was the Defensive Coordinator in Cincinnati the past four seasons. In Guenther’s first year on the job, the 5th year veteran Dunlap had a career high 69 combined tackles. In his second year, Dunlap had a career high 13.5 sacks and made his first Pro Bowl. In their third season together in 2016, Dunlap had a career high 15 passes defended and made his second Pro Bowl. Guenther definitely put the 8-year veteran in the position to succeed.

Now Guenther has Khalil Mack. This could be good. This could be very good.
