What a whirlwind last few months for Ken Norton Jr. Despite poor results as the Defensive Coordinator in Oakland, he’s expected to be getting the same position in Seattle, according to Mike Garafolo. And it’s happening just days after having accepted the job of Assistant Head Coach/LB coach for the 49ers.
With Kris Richard likely out, the Seahawks are expected to turn to Ken Norton Jr as defensive coordinator, sources say. All indications are he’ll be back in Seattle, where he was the team’s LB coach from 2010-14.

It was this time last year that there were serious questions of whether he would be fired as Raiders DC after two lackluster seasons. He was retained by the Raiders only to be fired after week 11 of the season with the defense showing instant improvement under his replacement John Pagano.
Exactly a week ago he was hired by the 49ers in a role that seemed perfect for him. Then the Seahawks began cleaning house on their staff — including firing Tom Cable who is expected to join the Raiders staff as OL coach — firing Kris Richard as DC and now they want Norton back to take the job.
Norton’s first DC job came under Jack Del Rio in Oakland afer having held the LB coach job in Seattle for six seasons under Pete Carroll. Now he comes full circle. Hard to see that as an upgrade over what they had before, but, hey, I guess you never really know.
