This season Khalil Mack was named to his third-straight Pro Bowl in four NFL seasons. But he’s going to sit this one out due to an undisclosed injury.
Making the trip to Orlando in his place will be Steelers DE Cameron Heyward. And since the Steelers were knocked out of the playoffs last weekend, there’s no worry he will have to bow out due to any Super Bowl obligations.
Heyward had 12.0 sacks this season, which likely had a lot of Steelers fans angry he got ‘snubbed’. But sacks aren’t the only stat for a DE. Mack had 10.5 sacks, but also was arguably the best run stopper in the league, putting up 78 tackles. Heyward had just 45 tackles.
Other Raiders to make the Pro Bowl were Donald Penn, Kelechi Osemele, and Rodney Hudson. Penn will also not be participating due to an ankle injury he suffered in week 15 that caused him to missed the Raiders’ final two games.
