Just as Jon Gruden alluded earlier this week, the Raiders would be making their decision on their next head coach known by early next week. And that announcement will be that Gruden is the team’s net head coach.
They have complied with the Rooney Rule, Gruden finishes out out his ESPN broadcasts this season with the Chiefs vs Titans on Saturday, then he comes in for his ‘interview’ on Monday, and the team announces him as the next head coach on Tuesday.
The #Raiders are planning for a Tuesday press conference to introduce soon-to-be-new coach Jon Gruden, source confirms (as @CorkOnTheNFL said). He’ll arrive and have his, um, interview Monday.— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) January 5, 2018
Every major NFL media outlet has confirmed the press conference will happen on Tuesday, though the team will probably not be making it official until Monday following that ‘interview’ with Gruden.
Then Tuesday, it’s the return of Chucky press conference. Should be fun.
We already have names for much of his coaching staff. It’s only fitting we finally get something official.
