Week five is upon us and it has the 1-3 Raiders taking a quick trip to SoCal to visit their fan base there. That’s where they will face the 2-2 Chargers and where they are 5-point underdogs according to Bovada, courtesy of Oddshark.
The Chargers opened as 6-point favorites, so the margin has slimmed a bit since then.
The two teams have had one common opponent this season. They both faced the Rams. They came to Oakland in the season opener on Monday night football and blew out the Raiders 33-13. Two week later, the Rams were hosting the Chargers who they beat 35-25.
In both games, the Rams’ opponents had 13 points at the half. In the second half the Rams outscored the Chargers 14-10 and outscored the Raiders 23-0.
Last week was the first time this season the Raiders outscored their opponent in the second half. They were behind at the half only to outscore the Browns 28-25 in the second half. That tied the game and they added a field goal to win it in overtime.
If they are to prove the oddsmakers wrong, they will need to prove that wasn’t a fluke comeback but rather turning the corner.
