Johnny Holton waived by Raiders a week after practice squad call-up

The roster shuffle will continue this week. Shortly after Jon Gruden announced the team will be adding TE/WR Darren Waller, the team officially announced they have waived Johnny Holton.

The former undrafted receiver out of Cincinnati is in his third season with the Raiders. He appeared in 31 games in his first two season, both as a receiver and special teamer.

This season Holton has been on the practice squad and was called up last week to the regular season roster. He saw five snaps on offense with one target and no catches. He also saw 5 snaps on special teams.

Most likely the team will attempt to put Holton back on the practice squad should he clear waivers. They cleared a spot on the practice squad today as well, cutting Arrion Springs from the practice squad. He too was added last week.

There are more moves coming. Defensive tackle Justin Ellis will be reinstated from injured reserve while defensive end Jacquies Smith will head to IR with an Achilles injury.
