Raiders-Chiefs injury report: Eric Berry returns, Maurice Hurst misses practice with ankle injury

New, comments
NFL: Oakland Raiders at Kansas City Chiefs Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Chiefs got some good news today. All Pro safety Eric Berry returned to practice for the first time. Berry hasn’t played in a game since the 2017 season opener. He hasn’t played this season with bone spurs that dig into his Achilles.

His return is a huge deal as he is considered arguably the best safety in the NFL. Just what the 9-2 Chiefs need, right? To get one of the best players in the league back.

Berry was limited in practice, so whether he plays this week in Oakland remains to be seen. Either way, it’s very good news for the Chiefs that he is close to returning as they head into the home stretch toward the playoffs.

A new player appeared on the Raiders’ injury report Wednesday. Rookie Maurice Hurst did not participate with an ankle injury. His status will be worth watching as he is the team’s best rookie and top defensive lineman.

Martavis Bryant (knee) and Leon Hall (back) also did not practice.

Surprisingly not on the injury report was Jordy Nelson, despite Jon Gruden admitting Monday that Nelson was not 100% for the game last Sunday.
