Most of you at some point or another have bought a team calendar. Each moth features a player on the team and each year, there are a couple of those players who aren’t on the team anymore. Then when you get to that month, you are staring at a player no long on the team. That happened a LOT with this year’s Raiders calendar.
This is what the calendar looked like (as @J_ustWinBaby posted on twitter). The X’s I added to show the players who are no longer on the roster.

By February, you were looking at Donald Penn, who was still on the roster, but who had just gotten foot surgery. He wouldn’t return from that injury until mid August for the last few days of camp. Then in week four, he suffered a leg injury and was placed on injured reserve. Technically, he is still on the team. In fact he is eligible to return as early as week 13 against the Chiefs, but there’s no guarantee he will. The team is allowed to return as many as two players from injured reserve. If he does not, he has played his last game with the Raiders.
They are already returning Justin Ellis in the next couple weeks. Others eligible to return include Marshawn Lynch and Mike Nugent.
Sean Smith was released in March. Then he was the face of April. Soon after he was in jail for having beaten up his sister’s boyfriend.
Michael Crabtree was also cut in March. By June he was the face of the calendar.
September Amari Cooper was still on the team, so at least you didn’t have to look at him the whole month after he’d been traded. That occurred a couple weeks later.
October you might have just put the calendar away rather than look at Khalil Mack the entire month and get depressed.
By November it was David Amerson who was long gone, having been one of the first to go way back in February before guarantees in his contract kicked in.
And Finally, if you still have the calendar up, you’ll be looking at Bruce Irvin next month. He was just waived by the team on Friday and will either be claimed off waivers or will have signed on with another team in short order.
That means out of 12 months of players, only five are still on the team — Reggie Nelson, Derek Carr, Rodney Hudson, Karl Joseph, and Kelechi Osemele.
The question is, who do you think most likely won’t make it through December?
