Raiders to work out former Bills QB Nathan Peterman on whom Jon Gruden said to be ‘very high’

Somehow Nathan Peterman continues to generate considerable interest as an NFL quarterback. The Bills kept giving him the ball to try and quarterback their team despite career totals of 3 TD’s and 12 interceptions while leading the Bills to just one win in four career starts.

The latest to see those totals and say ‘let’s see what this guy’s got’ is Jon Gruden who will have Peterman in for a workout this week and according to Bills beat writer Ryan Talbot of New York Upstate, Gruden is ‘very high on’ Peterman.

Gruden is pretty well known for being “very high” on Nathan Peterman. He said prior to the 2017 draft that he thought the Pittsburgh product was a first round talent.

“Peterman is ready to walk in and be a contributor from day one,” Gruden wrote on ESPN.com prior to the draft. “He just looks like a pro quarterback -- coming out of the huddle, running an offense with different formations, shifting, motioning, different patterns that other colleges don’t run. Peterman will recognize route combinations and associate formations.”

Gruden was “very high” on something with a prediction like that. Peterman went in the 5th round of that draft and hasn’t exactly lit up the league in his two seasons, let alone from day one.

Peterman was cut by the Bills back on November 14 and if the report is correct, Gruden is not alone in the league’s strange obsession with Peterman. At this point in the season, the workout is preparing for him to be a third quarterback to compete for a roster spot in the offseason.
