It’s nearly unanimous as all but one of the outlets we cover for the round-up have Oakland as the 31st ranked team after the Raiders 30-16 loss to the Bengals this past Sunday. That would be 2nd to last, which corresponds exactly with the Raiders current status as having the 2nd pick in next year’s draft. The only question that is likely to be asked is how NFL.com didn’t follow suit as they are the only site who ranked the Raiders higher.

"Despite the final score, 30-16, the Raiders sure did deflate their own hopes of winning in Cincinnati. Oakland perpetually failed on third down, suffered through too many penalties and ultimately settled for too many field goals. Chaz Green did his part by allowing four sacks by himself, but there was plenty of blame to go around. Running the football 16 out of 59 plays in what was a close affair throughout makes no sense, although Jalen Richard's second-quarter fumble didn't strengthen his position group's case. The Raiders' defense hung in, though Jeff Driskel's 13-yard scramble on the last play of the third quarter -- on third-and-10 -- really hurt. Cincy kept Oakland's D on the field for almost seven minutes that drive, before paying it off with a field goal to go up two scores.
Side note: Think Amy Trask got it right -- and then some -- in laying out the blueprint for how the Raiders can exit Oakland gracefully this week. Amen."

"Biggest breakthrough: TE Lee Smith. The eighth-year veteran entered 2018 with four career touchdown receptions, the most recent coming in 2015. After Sunday's score, Smith has three TDs in his past three games. Mere one-dimensional, blocking tight end? Well, that was certainly his rep, which is a major reason he has been so wide-open on his scores. "We'll keep featuring him in the passing game," QB Derek Carr said. "He's a good target, but the best thing that he does, besides being a great teammate, is his blocking. Any time we can get him the ball, it's a plus." -- Paul Gutierrez"

"The Christmas Eve game against the Broncos could be the Raiders’ final game in Oakland. Or maybe not, with the team’s home for next season still undetermined. It should make for a truly odd and confusing scene."

"Did you know Derek Carr hasn’t thrown an interception since Oct. 7? Over Carr’s past nine games: 194-of-293, 2,056 yards, 12 touchdowns, no interceptions, 100.1 rating. Nobody is claiming he’s having a great season, but considering his supporting cast (especially after the Raiders traded Amari Cooper), it’s not bad. At very least, it shouldn’t be a priority anymore for the Raiders to dump Carr, as was being said two months ago."

"Last week against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Oakland Raiders appeared to have found their stride in an upset win. The Raiders had figured a couple of things out and had a little momentum entering the stretch run.
In Week 15, the team remembered it was the Raiders and that said Raiders are terrible.
The Raiders lost by two touchdowns in Cincinnati in a very Raiders way: The team outgained the Bengals but was done in by eight penalties and two turnovers.
The Raiders have a ton of draft capital next year, and they are going to need every bit of it. The skill-position talent is among the worst in the league. The offensive line has regressed massively relative to last year. And the defense is…
Does Oakland have a defense?
At this point, the best thing for the Raiders would probably be to lose out and shoot for the first overall pick.
Given how Oakland plays and how the team is playing, that's absolutely doable."

"The Raiders lost the home mojo they had against Chiefs and Steelers when they went long road tripping against the Bengals. They need the draft to stockpile defensive talent."
