It’s safe to say the Bears and Cowboys are ecstatic about their investments in trade with the Raiders. Both teams have now clinched their division thanks in large part to the contributions of those players they got from Oakland in exchange for first round picks.
Today the Cowboys beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to improve to 9-6 and clinch the NFC East title. They did so with a lot of help from Amari Cooper who has put up 48 catches for 714 yards and 6 touchdowns in 8 games.
They acquired Cooper from the Raiders at midseason for a 2019 first round pick which is now guaranteed to be at least 21 overall with them in the playoffs. They were sitting at 3-4 when they acquired Cooper. They are 6-2 since.
The Bears have long since clinched a playoff berth. They sit at 10-4 and are facing the 49ers today — the team the Raiders turned down a trade offer to because they thought the Bears would have a higher pick.
The Bears are still in range of a first round bye, but they would need the Rams to lose another game to get it. They have done so in large part to the play of Khalil Mack who has more sacks (12.5) on the season than the entire Raiders team (12). They acquired Mack in exchange for first round picks in 2019 and 2020.
