Thursday college bowl games open thread

NCAA Football: Pittsburgh at Miami Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

Greetings, Raider Nation! I hope you all enjoyed yesterday’s group of college bowl games, because there are three more today, with one featuring perhaps the best matchup thus far.

First up at 10:30 AM Pacific is the Walk-Ons Independence Bowl live from picturesque Shreveport, Louisiana. Sending young men to Shreveport should be considered a violation of the cruel and unusual punishment clause in the Constitution and is banned under the Geneva Convention as well, but the NCAA doesn’t play by anyone else’s rules.

At 2:15 PM is the Pinstripes Bowl, which features the finest pair of teams we’ve seen yet this bowl season in The U and Wisconsin. Miami had a bit of a rough season at 7-5, while Wisconsin severely underperformed early-season expectations and went 7-5 as well after being a preseason top-10 team, but these are two quality programs and they will both look to get their season ended on a high note.

Finally, at 6 PM is the Academy Sports + Outdoors Texas Bowl, which selected the most awkward Texas program possible in Baylor to go up against the surprisingly good Vanderbilt Commodores. Both of these teams are 6-6 and are better suited for the Electronic Arts/Comcast Customer Service Bowl, but here we are.

Enjoy the games!
