Two starters went from limited participants in practice to missing practice altogether on Friday. Kelechi Osemele missed practice with a toe injury and Maurice Hurst is still struggling with an ankle injury. Both players are officially questionable for Sunday’s game against the Steelers.
Should Hurst not be able to go, fellow rookie PJ Hall would once again step up. Justin Ellis could also see increased time in his second game back from injured reserve. Gruden said Hurst is “really struggling with that ankle, so we’ll cross our fingers.”
Osemele would be replaced at left guard by Jon Feliciano.
Doug Martin practice full all week and yet is questionable. Gruden said he’s playing no matter what, but he’s got to check with the trainers on Saturday to see just how much he can go. If they think he’s not going to be able to carry the load as the feature back, newly acquired CJ Anderson will get the call to pick up the slack.
