Free agent CB Vontae Davis visiting Raiders

With a significant need at the cornerback position, the Raiders hosted free agent cornerback Vontae Davis today according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Davis was released by the Colts in November of last year following opting to have season ending surgery on his groin which he aggravated at midseason.

As of a week ago, doctors cleared him and and he promptly began making the rounds. He visited the 49ers Tuesday and then hopped over to Oakland to pay the Raiders a visit.

Prior to his release, the 2-time Pro Bowler suggested that he was disrespected by the Colts when he was left home for the team’s Week 9 game in 2017.

The former first-round pick is just 29 years old. The Raiders could use him, that’s for certain. They cut David Amerson last month, fellow starter Sean Smith could also be released, and slot corner TJ Carrie is set to become a free agent.
